Citrea Apartments is an affordable housing project for families located in downtown Fullerton. This 55 unit project is organized as a 5-story on-grade courtyard building buffered by a 2-level parking garage adjacent to existing railroad tracks to the south. This affordable infill, transit-oriented development with 55 apartments is within walking distance of the Fullerton Train Station and a regional bus transportation hub. It is located close to schools, a community center, library and a public park. The development was designed to achieve the equivalence of certification under the LEED Rating System for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND).

Citrea includes studio, 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom apartments, with 3,300 square feet of common space including a community room and computer area, leasing and management offices, a tot lot, a picnic and barbecue area and a landscaped courtyard. Social services such as adult educational courses such as financial literacy, health and wellness, skill-building and computer training classes are provided by LifeSteps.

Citrea’s façades were inspired by its roots as a former bottling plant for Hawaiian Punch during the mid-1900s. Its vertical striped accents represent flavors such as “Bodacious Berry, Orange Ocean and Lemon Lime Splash” symbolize the ascension of the popular drink through straws and also the lifting up of lives in this community. A local artist created a mural along the parking garage façade representing the site’s industrial history, greeting thousands of Metrolink and Amtrak passengers each day.
